Charity Name:  SOS Ministries
Charity Website:  www.saveourstreetsministries.org

SOS Ministries serves the cities of Bryan-College Station and surrounding counties, with programs for children, teens, and adults. Mr. Ramirez and his amazing staff and army of volunteers are made up of people from all denominations, representing many local churches, working together to help the helpless, reach the forgotten, speak to those who have lost hope, and bring comfort and physical expressions of the love of Christ to those who feel unlovable. They teach, counsel, pray for, give to, and support people in crisis situations, people who have been tossed aside by society. The SOS Mens' Home gives structure, balance, and purpose to men who want their lives to change.

Why does this Charity Deserve to be Chosen?:  Because of the work of SOS on the streets, in the prisons, in the schools, and in the daily lives of the people in the Brazos Valley, many people who once were on the road to destruction and despair have been rescued. As a result, their lives have changed by the power of God, and they become responsible citizens of the communities in which they live. Entire families have changed, one person at a time, and children who would otherwise be headed in the wrong direction now have hope for a better future. The money given to SOS would be well spent!

Charity Name:  Museum of the American GI

Citizens of Brazos Valley, College Station, Bryan and the surrounding areas

Why does this Charity Deserve to be Chosen?:  "The Museum of the American G.I is a living history museum dedicated to preserving the equipment, uniforms and memories of all American Servicemen. The museum is the best kept secret in the Brazos Valley. The Museum of the American G.I. has an inventory of multiple award winning artifacts of American military history from WWI through Vietnam.
One of the goals of the museum is to be a repository of restored, working military vehicles used by the United States. The museum's collection includes transport and tracked armored vehicles, artillery pieces and various other hardware components used in the 20th century. A collection of fully functional weapons including individual and crew served weapons, mortars and artillery pieces and samples of demilled ordnance are used in public demonstrations. Additionally, the museum houses an impressive collection of uniforms and memorabilia of U.S. servicemen and women.
Unique to the museum is the ability to exhibit the vehicles and weapons in action. The museum hosts an annual ""Open House"" in March where the public can experience the rumble of tanks, whine of engines along with observing small arms fire up to the blasts of tank and artillery cannons with impressive pyrotechnics simulating authentic firing.
The Open House and other events provide the museum the opportunity to honor living veterans, generally from WWII and Vietnam. The museum has completed phase 1 of its first building. Phase 1 covers the exterior structure, doors and windows. All donations go directly to either the building fund or to sponsor events for the public. No donations will go to overhead such as salaries. The Museum of the American G.I. appreciates your partnership as we honor our veterans by keeping their memories alive. "

"

Why does this Charity Deserve to be Chosen?:  Our local chapter in Bryan/College Station services 10 counties including Burlseon. Each year our chapter hosts a Law Enforcement Recognition luncheon and present awards to deserving officers, deputies and troopers for their dangerous and dedicated DWI enforcement efforts. We typically conduct this luncheon in November and invite the officers significant other and supervisor and frequently the dept heads also attend. We want our regional officers to know that many in the community truly appreciate and support them and their efforts. We solicit sponsors to help provide for this event and always inform attendees of our generous sponsors.
